New entrepreneurs head for the catwalk

On the eve of Tuesday 30th March, Chapel Allertons trendy artspace Seven was buzzing with excitement in anticipation of How Bizaar! The Fashion Show.

Local designers worked the crowd into a fashion frenzy, with models strutting down the catwalk in their finest collections and the venue transformed into a vibrant marketplace as many more artists and entrepreneurs displayed an assortment of goods on stalls around the catwalk. .

Over one hundred people from the local community turned out on the evening to recognise and celebrate the work of local designers, artists and entrepreneurs supported by How Bizaar! a project managed by UrbanBiz. The project, which allows new entrepreneurs to trial their business idea at a stall in Kirkgate market for 12 weeks free of charge, is funded by Sharing the Success, the Leeds Local Enterprise Growth Initiative (LEGI).

Paul Rydel, How Bizaar! Co-ordinator says: “It was great to be able to celebrate the varied and wonderful mix of goods and services and successes of our clients with an event like this. Most of the individuals began their How Bizaar! journey with just an idea and so it’s fantastic to see how much they have progressed and grown in confidence. It was an excellent night!”
