How Bizaar launches business careers

On Monday 17th August 2009, UrbanBiz’s newest and most exciting project, the How Bizaar market stall, was officially opened.
The stall, based within the historic Kirkgate market in Leeds, gives life to business ideas by providing business start ups with the opportunity to showcase their products with little financial risk.
The Deputy Lord Mayor of Leeds, Andrew Barker and Jean Dent, Director of Development at Leeds City Council carried out the honour of cutting the ribbon to officially mark the opening of the stall. They were joined by UrbanBiz, Sharing the Success and the current stall traders for a day filled with music and activities to celebrate the launch.
The stall is truly unique, with products ranging from clothing to hand crafted jewellery to art work. It really has something for everyone. Interest in the stall, from both prospective stallholders and passersby having a browse, has been phenomenal.
Inam Ratyal, UrbanBiz Centre Manager commented “We were really pleased with how the day unfolded, the market stall was literally buzzing. There was a good turn out and it was great to see the amount of people interested in what we are doing. Our entrepreneurs have been given the opportunity to test their products and have found it invaluable. The day was a huge celebration of all they have achieved.”
Stallholders have signed up to take part in the scheme which offers twelve weeks of rent free shared space and support and guidance from Paul, the dedicated How Bizaar sales co-ordinator. The project is financed by Sharing the Success, the brand name for the Local Enterprise Growth Initiative in Leeds and has been designed to promote a culture of enterprise within the city.
